6th - 8th Grade Module 6 Concept PT

Cycle 1

How can we as medical professionals help others understand, prevent, and treat disease?
Cycle Summary

For the Performance Task, students will utilize information gained from all four concepts in order to answer the original driving question. They will answer this question first through the lens of a particular disease, food poisoning. They will research and model the effects of this disease from both a cellular and systemic perspective. Students will use food poisoning as a model case study in order to be able to choose a different disease and create a research presentation.
This module sets a foundation for deeper explorations of cellular structure and function in high school. It also builds a foundation for middle school explorations in cellular respiration and protein structure and function.
